MEET TIM BARNES

Tim Barnes was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on December 28, 1958. He attended Turrell Public Schools in Turrell, Arkansas. He was baptized at the age of 13 at the Turrell Church of Christ.

Tim was raised on a cotton and soybean farm, where he was taught the value of hard work, personal responsibility and loyalty. Tim remembers that one of the highest compliments his father could pay someone was to say that he or she is a good neighbor. That is what Tim has always strived to be: a good neighbor. He believes in being responsible and respectful of those he works with, worships with, sends his children to school with, and share his community with. Just like a dependable neighbor, when Tim is a state senator he wants to be a loyal neighbor for his constituents when they are in need.

After graduating from Harding University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Tim earned his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Arkansas Law School in 1985.

Tim moved to Clarksville, Tennessee with his wife Linda in 1987. He and Linda have three children: Patrick (15); Molly (10); and Fergus (9). All three of Tim and Linda’s children have always attended school in the Clarksville, Montgomery County School System.

Tim and his family are members of First Presbyterian Church in Clarksville. Also, Tim actively supports, and serves on the Board of, the American Red Cross, Montgomery County Chapter.

In addition to his already busy life, Tim makes time for kids, having managed and helped coach youth soccer teams. Tim believes very strongly in well organized and supervised sports activities as a means of instilling positive values in the lives of our children.

Tim has been practicing law for 23 years and maintains an office in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee at 119 Franklin Street.
